Great Business and OnOne software!!! Redmond Oregon

OK- sooooo This is not really truly going to be photography related….maybe I’m procrastinating in what I REALLY need to be doing, but with that said…
OK so I don’t know if it’s just me, or maybe this is what happens as you get…OLDER, YEP I SAID IT…OLDER
If I go into a business and get poor customer service I have a REALLY tough time going back there and EVER spending another dime there again….This kind of hit me in the face the other day…I was hungry, It was cold and rainy and I felt like a yummy bowl of soup…well there is this little soup place in Redmond that everyone has always told me was SOOO good, people rave about this place..so about 6 months ago I went in there SO excited to try it out…well the people in that store were so rude to me, such poor customer service, and honestly crappy food…NOW I normally would give people the benefit of the doubt and say to myself “MAYBE IT WAS JUST AN OFF DAY” but with an overall bad experience I will not go back…I sat in front of that store for 5 minutes the other day deciding if I would go in, spend my ten dollars there to give them another shot, NOPE, I left. I wont go back ever. This is not the first time that this has happened in a local business and honestly I will not go back to those stores no matter how much I love their stuff!!!!!!
When I was in College I worked at Sweet Factory in Valley River Center in Eugene. We were taught that within 7 seconds of someone entering the store we were to greet them and ask if they needed help…..have you gone to stores in Bend or Redmond or wherever and people act as if you don’t even exist? NOTHING DRIVES ME MORE CRAZY……
Last Night I had an opportunity to go to a Seminar in Bend. (photo related). When I got there I was greeted by the studio owners (yes I know them, but it doesn’t matter) Then the OnOne (photo software people) reps came over and talked to me introduced themselves with a handshake and a conversation about how they love Bend! OMG talk about a great company! I have gone to several OnOne seminars and they NEVER disappoint. Their customer service, their commitment to their product, their excitement, their knowledge, and the way they relate to the people they are talking to and they have fun!!!!! I would much rather spend my money with a company that I like, trust and feel confident in!!!!! Think about the places you spend your money and really if they deserve it!!!! I have spent a ton of money of my Adobe and Canon products and never once have they called me, heck I’ve sent emails and never got a response….. send an email to onone and they will call and email you back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Food for Thought on this RAINY day!!!

Ah, as the Year comes to an End, I’m exhausted….. In the best way possible. I have worked hard this year and had a GREAT YEAR and I’ve taken some beautiful pictures. I have to toot my own horn a little and say I’m VERY VERY proud of myself. I have taken on A LOT this year and most of it has gone smoothly! I have learned some GREAT lessons in business and friendship, and trying to balance family with owning my own business. With that said I will be taking the rest of december and probably most of January off. During this time I will be working on reorganizing and restructuring my business to give all my loyal customers (THANK YOU) “MORE”- when you come to see me in the Spring and Summer. I’m so excited to show everyone all the “cooky” little ideas that my brain has been cooking up and just have not had time to execute!

With all that said, IF you are already on the books for a session, or I’m working on custom products for you, I’m Not Bailing on you, and I will be blogging along the way about what I’m up to

THE ONLY EXCEPTION I will be making in my time off, is for little TINY newborns!!! Those newborns just cant wait to be photographed. ON THAT SAME NOTE- I’m wanting to update my newborn portfolio and will be offering a limited amount of FREE sessions for newborns so if you will have a Newbie and are willing to come in during the first week of your babies arrival, I would LOVE you to get in contact with me!!!! It’s very possible that I will be offering some more “modeling” sessions as I work on my new Marketing Campaign and will need some models!!! SO stay tune, and please add me as a friend on Facebook to keep up to the minute with me.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the up and coming year!!!!!!

SummitUp Photo Seminar in Sisters Oregon

This weekend, I got the opportunity to go to Sisters Oregon (only 20 minutes away WOOT ) For the last 5 years I’ve been traveling to Portland, and Salem, and Roseburg, and the coast all to further my education and continue to learn everything I can about photography from other established photographers. When I found out about SummitUP I Blocked off those days in hopes of being able to attend! The $300 was A lot of money to me, at this point, but I really believe in how important it is to surround yourself with what you love, so I did!!!! I had a good time! I will admit that I”m more of a Hands on learner, and I knew that this was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNG day of lectures, But they were great lectures. Kevin spoke first, and gave a great talk on being creative, working as a team, and other motivational tools to use. Then it was All Doug Gordon, I had heard Doug’s name before, but I had never heard anyone that had been to his seminars or “Experienced Doug” I don’t even know what to say about Doug!!! WOW, That man is my kind of Crazy! I Think that he might be me, only a man???? I mean he made us stand up and dance to Y.M.C.A, he really REALLY channeled his inner “Village People”, “Village person?” hahaha! Doug Really gave a GREAT presentation. THEN OMG Dane Sanders Came to SISTERS OREGON!! I bought “Fast Track Photographer” a couple years ago, I read it, took it to heart, and then kind of went the opposite direction of where I thought I was going and instead of focusing on weddings, I started getting more into photographing cute little chubby babies and kids with blond hair and BIG BLUE EYES! Dane Could be a motivational speaker for more then photographers, I think he could motivate the people that scoop poop after the horses in the parade…HAHA, but seriously. Dane is like someone I have never met before, because I think in the short time we spoke, he was trying to figure me out just as much as I was trying to figure him out…..He really made me think about my Life and Especially the last 5 years trying to be EVERYTHING trying to be Mom, Wife, Photographer, Barista, Bill Payer, House Cleaner, Bread Winner…He made me Realize I need to Change, in a good way. Have you ever thought you want to be REALLY good at just a couple things, rather then be ok at a lot of things? I want to be a really good, Mother, Wife and Photographer….thats it, thats all I want. Thank you Dane.

If you don’t know me, I grew up in the little town of Bend…Moved to Bend in 1984, there was a stoplight at Wilson and 97, thats the only one I really remember….it was small, it was safe, it was pretty, and it was sunny. I feel like I grew up as the town grew up, I knew everyone so it seemed…….then in 1997 I left and went to U of O….when I returned HOLY CRAP there was a freaking freeway through town, the “Old Mill” District was being built, A new take on Bend had happened when I had been gone…..the people were different, the “tone” of the town was different….Bend has gone “Organic” and “Green” I cant describe it, but coming back to your hometown and having it be so completely different was like culture shock…it’s almost as if U of O followed me home??? ANYWAYS, I knew everyone….so when I don’t know someone, which happens all the time any more, its weird….How could I not know someone from Bend..And how could I not know this guy? Benjamin Edwards HOLY CRAP! I didn’t know I was in for a SHOCK when he spoke. When Ben Talks, he talks from his heart, you don’t even have to see him to know that, just the sound of his voice tells you that….I cried…….I cant believe there are people out there doing the kinds of stuff that he does with his Camera, he is helping tons of people in the world, and he’s inspiring tons of photographers to help! He has a Love for life, his family, his wife, his children. WOW BEN! Just WOW, I’m speechless. Joy and Jules Bianchi (Brown?) gave the ending segment, which was an Awesome refresher from hearing all the LOW MANLY VOICES…they gave me SO many marketing ideas…LOOK OUT CENTRAL OREGON!!!!

I could write the night away talking about SummitUP……..but then I wont get things done that I need to get done (I’m afraid that Dane will be calling to check on me tomorrow, haha) Sunday Morning we had a Trash the Dress Shoot at Shibui spa in Sisters……..WOW! NOW this is me, this is what I love doing….there were 45 photographers in a small space and LOTS of camera Equipment so I didn’t get tons of shots, BUT I did get a few, so here is My weekend at…SummitUp…Enjoy

OK-so I’m away, thats why I’m actually getting to BLOG YAY for that! I just have been having trouble finding the time for the last two months! I have so many sessions that I have not blogged about, maternity, cute kids, new babies and High School Senior Reps! I”M SORRY!!!! Well, I’m gonna make up for it now! Like I said I’m away!!! You heard it right!! I’m alone at a casino with 60 other professional Photographers for our Annual Summer Convention!!!! I dont ever get to get away, let alone, without my husband or children!!! Last Night I was laying in Bed and I couldn’t go to sleep, I think it was to quiet, something I’m just not used to……Either that or it was the dancing and drinks that made me feel 21 again???? HAHAHHAHAHHA JUST KIDDING….KINDA ;0

ANYWAYS I drove 4 hours to get here yesterday, and I”m so excited about the next 2 days! BUT LAST NIGHT I took a Boudoir class and had a BLAST!!! There were 15 photographers all crammed in a suite, it was great HAHAHAA Katie was our Model! She was so fun to work with!!! Here are a few pics that I can show!!!!! These are all straight out of my Camera and have NO photoshop or editing done to them!!! YAY for that!!!

SO………… Last week I went to Portland for a little Photography Training! Lucky me I got to stay at McMenamins Edgefield………..

So, I strongly advise that you do not google “haunted edgefield” at 2am while to go to sleep with the “creepy-ness” that this place posessesses.

I didn’t experience and abnormal activity while I was there……… I mean I did wake up several times because the doors on the armoire in my room kept rattling to the point of freaking me out, but I never felt anything….oh, except for the time when I was laying in bed, and it TOTALLY felt like someone jumped on my bed and did a front summersault into the air, but other then that…..it was fine So here are a few pics that I snapped…….These are pics of my room, and the decor….Meet Nurse Jeannie she was 104 years old when she died at edgefield………she lived in my room while she worked there…..she was there when I woke up in the middle of the night starting at me…….ewwwwwwwwww

Lets just say you could stay at edgefiled and ALWAYS have someone looking out for you………
NOW I could have let myself get TOTALLY creeped out, but I just kept it lighthearted and fun….It really was an amazing place, and I’m sure that some CRAZY stuff has happened at that place…….The food was great, the Margaritas were great, and meeting my fellow photographers, and friends is always a good time…..OMG- don’t forget about the soaking pool….more on that tomorrow!!!! Enjoy the creepy pics!!!
