I have some great things in the works for 2012 and I’m SOOOOOO excited AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (thats me screaming outloud) I have 3 big things in the works that I can not wait to announce!!!! One has to do with my Senior Sessions and the other have to do with my business in general YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Every Year I’m closed in January due to just needing a break! I’m kind of thinking of extending this thru Feb as well this year just because my family didn’t get me a lot thru the Holidays and they miss me Honestly I miss being a mom too….so I need to devote some more time to them and just “being there” So for January and Feb (unless I do a Valentines mini” I will be closed ……. WAIT WHAT DID YOU SAY?  “JEN, I have a gift card that I need to use” or JEN, I just had a baby and have to have newborn pics” CALL ME 541-350-6544 or email me jenniferlewisphotography@gmail.com and I will get you scheduled it’s not like I’m out of commission, just need a small break If you have some reason that just can not wait for pics, PLEASE call, it’s really ok

Then when I FINALLY went to bed at 12:45 I thought FORGET IT…..4:30 is going to suck, I’m not going to do it….

5:30am…………………DANG IT! I woke up automatically, and then I TRIED to go back to sleep but my photographer voice in my head whispered “just get up and look at the moon and see what it looks like” so I stumbled to the bathroom and opened up the bathroom window….a rush of cold air hit me like a brick wall, it froze my eyeballs….I said “OOOO thats pretty” stared at it for a minute and then got back in bed…..

I laid there for about 10 minutes when those darn voices kept me awake “Just go out and watch it, there is not another one til 2014″ UGH UGH UGH………..I got up…..went outside with 2 blankets and of course grabbed my camera. My tri-pod was in the back of the Tahoe and I did not want to wake up the kids, so I figured “I can just hold the camera” HAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAAAA

So there I sit…It was about 20 degrees and I had a stupid blanket to try and keep me warm….it wasn’t even a blanket it was a really thin quilt with nothing warm and fuzzy, just cold cotton squares….

UGH…..and some under my breath 5am not nice words…..the neighbors house had all their porch lights on, and, AND the stupid Street Light that I swear is attached to their house was brighter than I had ever seen it…..AND it was EXACTLY where the moon was while I was sitting on the ground…..DANG IT…I knew I should have gone to one of the many “out in the boonies” locations but honestly I refused to take my kids, and they couldn’t stay home alone, so it would have been me, my camera, and every creepy craigslist killer in Redmond Oregon, and of course the lions tigers and bears…..so my front yard had to do….I didn’t account for that DAMN STREET LIGHT….

the moon was about 1/2 way covered by the shadow of the earth when I first got out there….I just watched it for awhile….I took one pic…pure black

had to adjust the settings becuase there wasn’t hardly any light compared to that of the full moon that I had captured at 10pm last night….

As I sat there it got darker and darker as the moon slipped away into the shadow….I was hand holding my camera don’t forget…the pictures look OK on the internet, but zoom up and they are no NASA pictures thats for sure! They serve the purpose though. So here are a few of what I got….I learned a lot though sitting out there and I REALLY wished my tripod had been set up, but oh well! Guess I’ll go big in 2014!

The weird light in this first picture is that stupid street light, the more I changed my lens settings the more that light showed….UGH….Oh well…. ENJOY

SO I see on Facebook many of my friends have been doing the “30 days of thankfulness”….It seems so generic to me though….I don’t know why, it just does, kinda like “CRAP, today is number 23 and I haven’t put what I’m thankful for, so lets come up with something quick so Facebook land will not think I’m a phoney” (Was that mean?)

ANYWAYS–

It’s funny to me that it takes having kids to REALLY be thankful for your own family…..I know that as we get older we all become more accepting and perhaps even crave more “family togetherness”. But I honestly believe that if I had never had kids, I would never truly understand how much work and devotion my mother and father had to raise me, and to be great parents. Knowing that we are so important to each other gives me GREAT hope that someday my Children and Casey and I will have the same sort of relationship. SO here it goes

Of Course I’m thankful for my Kids, Kiana and Kaleb without them I’d probably be less sleep deprived, but I love them So much

I’m Thankful for My Hubby, for the most part we get a long AWESOME and we are doing our best to make the most of what we have in hard times, he’s a hard worker and Loves me with all his heart

                                          We got to go to Hawaii this year so I could shoot a wedding, that was the first time we have been alone in almost 10 years it was nice to be able to listen to each other over a meal or two……..

PS THANKS MOM FOR WATCHING THE KIDS!!!

Casey is a great dad, he’s probably a better dad then I am a mom, he Love his kids, thats for sure!!! (Kaleb looks a little upset but who knows why)

I’m thankful to live in Central Oregon where we can do so many things without having to drive far to do them (I would REALLY appreciate our summers back though)

I’m thankful for my Friends who are really more like family My BFF’s Mindy and Tanna, and my Newest Friend Rebecca it’s so nice to have you guys in my life!!!!! (Mindy I know thats a super old pic but it means a lot to me)

This is my house, I’m so thankful we have it– 2 years ago we lived in our camper (mostly out of fun, but some what out of necessity) and while I think we made some GREAT memories during those 6 months of traveling, I’m SOO happy to have a home, and live in a safe town where my kids can run next door and play!!!

This is a really bad picture of my mom and Dad, HAHAHAHAHA

But seriously, I’m so thankful that they moved back from Alaska all for me, when I needed them most, I do not know how I could raise my children without them, my mom holds me together when times get tough and the kids are tearing me apart, she watches them so I can have a minute to breath, or be able to run to the store without them, she stands behind me when the doctors and other people have turned their backs on my children and their health complications…I love you guys!!!

I’m Thankful for Full Throttle Java, which my mom owns, we have worked so hard to make this a successful business we love all our customers and I know I always have a job if I need one!!!

A couple months ago, I had to go to a funeral….. That was one of the hardest funeral’s I have ever sat through. I haven’t been to a funeral in a long long time (THANK GOODNESS) but when I walked into the church there were pictures of this man on the table…during the service they played a picture slide show and a lot of the pictures were everyday normal pictures from cell phones and such, some of them were of this man when he was in High school and junior high, his sports photos and pictures that his friends had…THEN IT HIT ME LIKE A FREAKING TON OF BRICKS…..what I do is soooo important. I have always thought of wedding photography that way. Something that would be passed down to sons and daughters and something that would become family heirlooms family history. But it never phased me that the pictures that I take of kids in sports and kids and families in general are just as important as wedding photos…really they are marking a point in time that can never be replaced or replicated. And honestly, there is a HUGE difference between the pics I take for you and your family then what your iphone can do. Don’t get mad about the iphone comment, there is a time and place for everything, but believe me you need good pictures and you do not want to regret not having good pics. So for that I’m Thankful, that I’m helping you create those memories, whether they are sports pictures, wedding photos, family pics….I’m SO happy that I’m a photographer!!

Do you ever get Super Excited about Halloween? I’m so excited to be holding my first annual “Spook-tacular” portrait party! Rebecca & Co. Events will be providing the decor, the goodies, the goodie bags, the yummy cookies and cider and a whole slew of other things she has up her sleeve!!! I’m SO SO SO Excited to be working with her, she has a way to pull things together and you will not believe the custom 2011 Halloween  set we have come up with, it’s awesome!

Who: Your Kiddo, Your Neighbors Kiddo’s, your nieces, and nephews, and grandchildren ect.

What:Cost is $22 and includes 1 5×7 professional print that will be sent by mail after the event (to maintain quality I would like to have my professional lab print the pics, and that takes time) there are some other options if you wish to sign up online (additional prints, and picture on CD)  By getting your child’s picture taken on our custom set you will be entered into the “cutest costume contest” we may also make a scariest contest as well…Prizes include a portrait session and Print Package from Me and many many other prizes you do not want to miss!!! The First 25 kids (parents) to sign up for a session online  will receive a spook-tacular goodie bag from Rebecca & Co. Events your kiddos will want this bag…dont waste time!!! We will have Yummy things to eat and Drink , you might not even want to leave

What if I have more than one kid?  You have Options, You only get ONE printed 5×7 per session fee, so we can stick them all in the same photo for your printed picture, OR you can sign up for different sessions for each child if you would like a separate photo of each child…it’s up to you!!!

ANYWAYS, I’m not a hard core salesman, but Scentsy is honestly something that I LOVE so I’m going to give you a small rundown…..

This is a Scentsy Burner…..They come in ALL sorts of designs, this one happens to be a brand new one For law enforcement…..

You put a piece of wax into the burner, plug it in and let it melt….as it melts it puts yummy scent into the air…….and FYI my children have super bad asthma and allergies and there are only a few that I suspect bother them…..but they have all been “NUTTY” scents and they are HIGHLY allergic to nuts, so it’s possible that it’s all in my head but I just don’t want to take the chance. There are some REALLY mild scents and really strong scents, and you can also control how strong the scent is by not using a lot of the wax, or by using more of the wax…..so many options, it’s SO exciting

3. Host a Basket Party: No, most likely I will not come to your house to do a party, because as I said before I’m just not a party person. BUT what I do is get together a “basket party” for you and your friends, family or co-workers- the way this works is that you become the host….take a cute little basket of all the scents with you and let everyone you know see a catalog and smell the smells when you do gather orders for about 1 week you get a percentage of the total sales in free product and you also get some incentives like 1/2 price items ect…….if you plan to take the basket to your work try to plan it a few days before payday (hint hint) this would be a great way for you to get some free product, even if you give away your free stuff for Christmas presents!!!!
