SO, I believe the most Difficult shoots are “family shoots”……OH NO, you think I mean difficult for me…NOPE, I mean difficult for you….YES YOU MOM! Typically Moms, have the job of arranging the session, arranging what everyone is wearing, brushing and curling hair, and making sure teeth get brushed and that dad is going to smile…well, a BIT of bad news on those details there is no way around those things mom, you are just going to have to do that stuff….BUT the GREAT news is, Once you get to me, you don’t have to wait in line behind 12 other families who are all sick and crabby and the baby is crying…..you know what I’m talking about. When you make an appointment with me it’s smooth sailing, it’s fun, it’s GERM FREE! You are it! You are the only family I have scheduled for your time, until we get good pics!!!
What happens if the kids just wont cooperate? On any of my sessions if we try and it’s just a bad day, we can totally reschedule. I’m not Walmart, 15 minutes is all you got…Nope, I’m me, and I want good pictures hanging on my walls, and I know you want the same….no one likes to see little johnny with his finger up his nose, and the baby red from crying! I want to see happy people!!! I’m a mom, I have a Husband, I have a Job…I understand when things just aren’t going good and we will need to try again! But, lets at least try the first time, you’ll be amazed how kids will ham it up for the camera for me!
We are coming to Central Oregon and want you to take out Pictures! OK- lets face it Central Oregon is a GREAT place to visit, so many things to do…Rivers, Lakes, Mountains, Parks, Clean air, Green Trees…….and you are coming here on vacation, RIGHT– I don’t expect you and your family to sit in your room all day and stare at the walls, so I know you will be out rafting, and skiing, and sun bathing…..LET ME TAKE YOUR PICS FIRST!!! I can do a really good job with photoshop, but I can not PS out your lobster skin from the sunburn you got yesterday while rafting….Raccoon eyes are really hard to get rid of from your ski goggles…..kids get tired after 2 days of being on vacation…..I get it!!! Schedule me on the day after you arrive!!!!
WE have a HUGE family Reunion, will you take pics of all of us? TOTALLY–BUT there are some “rules” For Family Reunion photo shoots I have decided that I charge each Family individually…..so say it’s your mom and dads 60th Anniversary and you and your brother and sister and their families are coming into town…..I don’t charge you mom and dad, But you, your Brother, and Sister each pay an individual session fee…WHY? You ask…becuase I do pics of each family and then I do mom and dad, and then I do huge group pictures as well, those big group pics are just added bonuses!
What should we wear? For all Family shoots I suggest you all wear coordinating bottoms and tops….so say everyone wears white shirts and blue jeans….or Black shirts and khakis, or a SHADE of the same color….but hey, if you want to say, everyone wear bright colors, that is GREAT and totally up to you…the only thing I really advise you dont do, is wear clothing with Logos like “gap” or “American Eagle” on them…..also steer clear of gaudy patterns like paisley or bright stripes…. IF you are self conscience about something, cover it up….if you dont have stick thin arms and are self conscience about it, wear a long sleeve shirt! IF you have a “body issue” talk to me about it, I see all sorts of shapes and sizes and most the time there are ways to pose you and your family to cover up or reduce whatever it is that bugs you, becuase MOST the time if I don’t know about it, I will think you look great, we all know we are our own worst critics!
