Hearts and Arrows: A Valentines Party!

Oh where to start!!! I had SOOOOO much fun on this photo shoot! And I met some Fabulous new Vendors!!! Gina from Bend Cookie Company, Rebecca from Rebecca & Co. Events and myself teamed up to make this party fabulous!!!! It is great when creative minds get together and make things happen!! We are always looking for more creativeness to add to our team, so if your company has something you would like show cased just get a hold of me as there are MANY opportunities for us to be creative!!! I have to say that Bend Cookie Company was Fabulous to work with as we basically just told her what we are doing, told her to run wild with her imagination and this is what she came up with, her cookies were even “BLINGY” which is EXACTLY what we are looking for in a vendor! We LOVE other women (or men) that have a passion for what they do…..OBVIOUSLY by looking at the cookies you can tell she LOVES making cookies!!!! Rebecca Did not disappoint either, that woman can put together a party like no body else…..I have to say when I first talked this over with her….she said “hm, I don’t have very much valentines day stuff” HAHAHAAA her idea of “very much” and my idea of “very much” are two different things…..all we had to do was lay down a pretty pink table cloth and there was the inspiration then all this “Rebecca Fabulousness” came out of her brain!!!I hope you enjoy the pictures and they give you some inspiration and If you need Cookies, call Gina, If you need a Party Planned or anything to do with a Party Call Rebecca, and if you need Pictures Call ME 541-350-6544 Can not wait to show you pictures from the next party we are planning!!! What a Nice New Year :)

MAN O MAN!!! By the time Christmas is over every year I’m SO exhausted! I had such a great Christmas this year, had TONS of photo sessions, some last minute Seniors, Some AWESOME families! I have to say that I LOVED my clients in 2011, I think I have FINALLY hit the place in my business where my clients and I are all on the same page YAY!!!! I had the Best Families for Christmas Sessions, I felt that they all had a “story” and were all really grateful to have their pictures taken, and make a little bit of history to pass on to future generations, I LOVE THAT!!!

I have some great things in the works for 2012 and I’m SOOOOOO excited AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (thats me screaming outloud) I have 3 big things in the works that I can not wait to announce!!!! One has to do with my Senior Sessions and the other have to do with my business in general YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Every Year I’m closed in January due to just needing a break! I’m kind of thinking of extending this thru Feb as well this year just because my family didn’t get me a lot thru the Holidays and they miss me Honestly I miss being a mom too….so I need to devote some more time to them and just “being there” So for January and Feb (unless I do a Valentines mini” I will be closed ……. WAIT WHAT DID YOU SAY? “JEN, I have a gift card that I need to use” or JEN, I just had a baby and have to have newborn pics” CALL ME 541-350-6544 or email me jenniferlewisphotography@gmail.com and I will get you scheduled it’s not like I’m out of commission, just need a small break If you have some reason that just can not wait for pics, PLEASE call, it’s really ok

ALSO, while I’m at it……Do you know a Junior in High School this year and a Senior next year?? I’m looking for some great Reps from ALL the Local schoools! Bend High, Mt view, Summit, Redmond High Schools, Sisters High, Priveville, ect…… If you know someone who is a good match (outgoing, friendly, preferable a good student) please have them contact me! It’s a great way to earn your senior pics for FREE!!!!

Scholastic Art Awards

Last year I was SO excited to be a part of the Scholastic Art Awards! I had never heard of it so when I got the call and learned all about it, I was even MORE excited!! I have been asked again this year to join the team of Judges and I couldn’t be happier!!! I really believe this is just an awesome program with such great potential for scholarships and just the process of judging and how to display your art work for esthetics. You can look back in the Archives for the pics I took, but seriously I was BLOWN away by what these “kids” do….some of the drawings could have been photographs! The jewelry, the ceramics, the leather work, it all REALLY inspired me! I’m so excited because many of the Seniors that I photographed this year have been EXTREMELY talented in all different forms of art, so I’m really excited for them to enter their artwork!!! SO if you have questions or know someone that is in 7th-12th grade and they are NOT entering their work in this show, PLEASE have them get ahold of me ASAP the deadline is this Friday to have the paperwork all filled out!!!!! I just LOVE it when Natalie and Chloe come to see me….I especially LOVE miss Natalie becuase she is totally into my “dress up clothes” ESPECIALLY my big Hot pink Skirt that she REALLY wants…..It was great to see you guys for pics, glad we were able to get together!!!!!!! Enjoy!

I was SOOOOO excited when Bill & Jennifer were able to make their schedules work with mine, we had all been trying to get together for a family photo day for MONTHS!!! SO even though we didn’t get the “fall leaves” The pics still turned out great! I’m getting so excited these days because I keep receiving Christmas Cards in the mail that have my customers pictures on them and I LOVE that! I know I’ll be getting one here shortly from these guys!!!! Enjoy!!!

I have never hated a street light this much…..

So I had read about the Lunar eclipse about a week ago, but whatever bogus thing I read said that we would not have a clear view of the eclipse in Oregon, so I figured “Oh well”. Then Yesterday about 5pm the local news station put on their Facebook page a whole article on it and how we should have a great view….EXCEPT, it starts at 4:30 am…..YUK!!! Other than Nature Photographers and Starbucks employees who on earth wants to get up that early…..not me…..usually at 4:30 am, I have only been asleep for about 3 hours and have probably woke up twice to deal with my children so 4:30 is NOT MY CUP OF TEA………..Well about 10pm last night I was determined, and I was READY. Batteries Charged, Reserve Batteries Charged, hand warmers in pockets, sweatshirt and long johns out and ready to go….I even sneaked out in the yard and snapped a few pics using different lens and cameras to see what the best combo was….Keep in mind I’m usually shooting small things that can barely walk, or are running circles around me, yelling and screaming and wiping boogers on me…..and that is what I love….sitting in the dark cold grass in silence in the middle of the night…is foreign to me. But here are my test shots…..

Then when I FINALLY went to bed at 12:45 I thought FORGET IT…..4:30 is going to suck, I’m not going to do it….

5:30am…………………DANG IT! I woke up automatically, and then I TRIED to go back to sleep but my photographer voice in my head whispered “just get up and look at the moon and see what it looks like” so I stumbled to the bathroom and opened up the bathroom window….a rush of cold air hit me like a brick wall, it froze my eyeballs….I said “OOOO thats pretty” stared at it for a minute and then got back in bed…..

I laid there for about 10 minutes when those darn voices kept me awake “Just go out and watch it, there is not another one til 2014″ UGH UGH UGH………..I got up…..went outside with 2 blankets and of course grabbed my camera. My tri-pod was in the back of the Tahoe and I did not want to wake up the kids, so I figured “I can just hold the camera” HAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAAAA

So there I sit…It was about 20 degrees and I had a stupid blanket to try and keep me warm….it wasn’t even a blanket it was a really thin quilt with nothing warm and fuzzy, just cold cotton squares….

UGH…..and some under my breath 5am not nice words…..the neighbors house had all their porch lights on, and, AND the stupid Street Light that I swear is attached to their house was brighter than I had ever seen it…..AND it was EXACTLY where the moon was while I was sitting on the ground…..DANG IT…I knew I should have gone to one of the many “out in the boonies” locations but honestly I refused to take my kids, and they couldn’t stay home alone, so it would have been me, my camera, and every creepy craigslist killer in Redmond Oregon, and of course the lions tigers and bears…..so my front yard had to do….I didn’t account for that DAMN STREET LIGHT….

the moon was about 1/2 way covered by the shadow of the earth when I first got out there….I just watched it for awhile….I took one pic…pure black

had to adjust the settings becuase there wasn’t hardly any light compared to that of the full moon that I had captured at 10pm last night….

As I sat there it got darker and darker as the moon slipped away into the shadow….I was hand holding my camera don’t forget…the pictures look OK on the internet, but zoom up and they are no NASA pictures thats for sure! They serve the purpose though. So here are a few of what I got….I learned a lot though sitting out there and I REALLY wished my tripod had been set up, but oh well! Guess I’ll go big in 2014!

The weird light in this first picture is that stupid street light, the more I changed my lens settings the more that light showed….UGH….Oh well…. ENJOY

Ok, I LOVE these kids!!! I’m so excited that they came to see me in their cute little Christmas Clothes!!!! And it worked out that right after the shoot they got to walk right out my studio door to the Startlight Christmas Parade, I’m sure they had fun!!!!! Thanks you guys for coming to see me! One of my friends from high school, Julie called me frantically when she realized that she only had one day off with her hubby between now and January 15th……that day was Sunday……so we did a quick little family photo session. Poor Hubby had to awake from his sleep after a long night of work, just for pics (THANKS HUSBAND) I was SOOO excited to see little Jenna becuase last time I seen her, she was a little shy of the camera! I can GLADLY say that she now is in her model phase where she enjoys having her picture taken….Jenna is the one in front of the tree, LOVE THAT PICTURE!!! Enjoy! OK- this is a no picture post….but only because the pictures are all coming soon….I’m editing away I promise….but as I edit these pictures, I was thinking that many of my best customers are also my best friends……imagine that right? Friends that support me in everything I do…..ANYWAYS….It got me thinking, probably because the High School Senior season has gone so much later than normal this year, I’m still shooting seniors and normally I’m done by October….but it seems just like yesterday when I was that girl..that 18 year old girl getting ready to say goodbye to my best friends and head off to U of O……..we were young, carefree and for the most part a responsible group of girls…..all heading off to bigger and better things for our lives….now like 14 years later we are all still BFF’s. Things have definitely changed, we don’t hardly ever get to talk, and we get to see each other even less then we talk, but we are all there for each other and THANK GOD for Facebook, seriously because we can watch each others lives as we change, as our children grow and as our hair turns grey (UGH). But what have I noticed this year you are asking? All my friends have turned into such beautiful, smart, caring women and mothers and wives with beautiful families. Mindy Hawkins, April Bex, Alicia Kunkel, Tanna Kraus, Jenni Chapanar, I miss you guys and I want you all to know that I’m so Proud of who you’ve become and thank you for being in my life even if it’s long distance and if it’s via Facebook most the time….. I’m SOOOO glad that I get to see you every once in awhile even if it’s just to photograph your children!!!! Can not wait to see you guys during Christmas Break!!! I lied…here is our senior prom picture….thats a little embarrassing but OH WELL Pictures are GREAT!!! FWIW I think we all hate our dresses looking back on this picture….hahhaa
